Selwyn's 50th birthday

Not that Cassie was getting her own back for her 40th birthday or anything...

but clearly Selwyn's half-century couldn't be allowed to pass unmarked.  We welcomed friends from many corners of his life - friends from previous parishes, the clergy, Richmond Shakespeare Society - and, of course, Chimes performers.  Aided and abetted by our special guests Pam Gower, Ruth Sharville and Dorothy Cooper, we entertained and teased him through a selection of his favourites - and, of course, wouldn't let him escape without performing himself!

We're especially grateful to Pam Akhurst, without whom the musical part of the party couldn't have happened - as we wanted the birthday boy to remain in his seat, she had to virtually sight-read the whole thing without rehearsal!

A little photographic evidence below, of the concert, the party and the following morning - doubtless more will follow...

David - giving us Lydia the Tattooed Lady Liz & David - the Orpheus duet Ian being a pale young curate Zoe telling us the tale of the oyster

Fiona Bransome's marvellous cake A bit of assistance in the traditional duty ... watched by friends from all corners of his life

Being congratulated by the congregation the following morning... ... and welcomed into the church centre by the Sunday school... ... in decorative style!
