This concert didn't previously feature on the website for the simple reason that the webmistress didn't know it was going to happen!!

Cassie was informed that there was a party happening on the 4th (two days before her actual birthday) with a "top secret guest list".  She'd have been surprised (and disappointed) if it hadn't included a substantial number of Chimes folks, and similarly a little entertainment.  What she wasn't expecting was a full evening's music, provided by many of her wonderful friends, ranging from Schubert, Offenbach and Bizet to her beloved Flanders & Swann and Stephen Sondheim. 

The party included guests from her family, genealogical colleagues, an ex-boss, college friends and many others - and those who had not heard Chimes performances before were in for a real surprise.  Melanie's husband Andrew took photographs; Leon recorded the concert on his faithful minidisc; and a magnificent time was had by all.
