November 1987 saw the very first Chimes concert, and in November 2002 we were therefore fifteen years old. We were delighted to welcome faces (and voices) old and new, as we performed in aid of St Mary's Church Tower & Bells fund. This proved to be a very special evening, with a huge variety of voices and musical styles, and representation from every era of Chimes' development. There was also a guest appearance by the prizewinning St Mary's Handbell Ringers to continue the chiming theme! We were also joined (who said "upstaged"?) by two younger guests: twelve year old James Pedrick, whose captivating solo in Stanford's The Bluebird was sheer delight; and fourteen year old Rhodri Harris (whose mother, Pam Akhurst, is a member of the group) whose rendition of Fats Waller's Your Feet's Too Big on the tuba brought the house down! We were delighted to have raised over £500 for St Mary's Tower & Bells fund, after the costs of refreshments had been paid.
