We performed our Crowning Glories programme for the third time this year as the finale to a day of celebration for the Queen's Jubilee. The residents had enjoyed a party in the "quad" at Hickey's (below right), with food and entertainment (including the chaplain, Revd Ruth Scott, dressed as a chicken - the coronation chicken...) A retiring collection was made in aid of The Rainbow Fund for South Africa (Guguletu School Project), which raised £100. The chapel is a delightful place, and set in beautiful grounds. The cast and audience alike enjoyed themselves enormously, and we celebrated many Jubilees: not only the one we were all there for, but also Selwyn's 40th anniversary of his first stage appearance (3rd June 1962 as Romany Rof in a primary school variety concert!); Joanna's 20th Chimes concert, and Zoë's 25th Chimes concert. |
