Something Appealing, Something Appalling

Sheffield Park, East Sussex

This was the third occasion on which we had presented this show. It was a survey of "eleven decades of musical comedy", from the 1890s to the 1990s, and was a staged and costumed performance. The songs were linked by the characters we played!

The venue was the beautiful Sheffield Park, in Sussex, where such fund-raising events are regularly organised by Melvyn Tarran, who is also the keeper of a substantial collection of Gilbert & Sullivan memorabilia. On this occasion, £1000 was raised for the St Peter & St James Hospice. The photograph is taken in the lovely grounds of the house after the performance.

Cassie Tillett (The Working Girl), Leon Berger (The Philosopher), Pam Akhurst (The Older [but no Wiser] Woman), Selwyn Tillett (The Cynic), Lucy Harris (our page-turner), Zoë White (The Girl), Stephen Brown (The Boy), Joanna Soane (The Young Girl)
